Dear friends, family, and colleagues,
On my birthday, I’m excited to share some big news with you: I’m exploring a run for Congress.
This campaign would be deeply personal to me—it would be about making sure families in my community have affordable access to quality health care, good jobs, strong schools, thriving small businesses, and the care our veterans deserve. It would also be about continuing the journey I’ve been on my whole life, serving others as a doctor, a lawyer, a daughter of immigrants, and someone whose family has called my district home for 40 years.
As you can imagine, running for office takes a lot of hard work and resources. I wouldn’t be able to do this without the support of friends, family, and colleagues like you. That’s why I’m reaching out, to gauge the potential of what it would take to make this run a reality. Your early support—especially through a pledge or promise—will make all the difference in building the potential foundation we would need to win. To be competitive, we would need to raise $300,000 in the first 3 days of the campaign launch. Meeting this goal would show our opponents and the national parties that our locally-based campaign would have the strength and momentum to win.
In the coming weeks, I’ll be giving you a call to personally share more about why I’m considering running and how you could get involved. In the meantime, if you’d like to pledge your support for my potential candidacy, you can make that pledge here: Make a Pledge. Every pledge, no matter the size, would help us reach more people and build momentum in the future.
Most of all, I want to thank you for being part of my life and helping me become the person I am today. Your friendship, encouragement, wisdom, and inspiration have shaped me in more ways than you know, and I am incredibly grateful. Talk to you soon!
With gratitude and love,
Nila Devanath
