Remembering Barry Knight

I was saddened to learn of the passing of Barry Knight, who dedicated so many years of his life to serving Virginia Beach and the Commonwealth.

Public service is not easy work. It requires time away from family, tough conversations, and a willingness to step forward when others may not. Regardless of party, that kind of commitment deserves recognition. Barry Knight served our community for decades, including in the Virginia House of Delegates, and was a familiar presence in the civic life of our region.

In moments like this, we’re reminded that community is bigger than politics. It’s about people, relationships, and a shared love for the place we call home.

My thoughts are with his family, friends, and all those in Virginia Beach who worked alongside him over the years. May they find comfort in the impact he made and the lives he touched through his service.
